At Bamboo Bicycles Beijing we MAKE our ideas happen. We believe that cycling is for everyone and that anyone can make her/his own bike. Having made over 400 bamboo bicycles with people from around China and the world, BBB is aiming to expand its products and services to help more people join the growing cycling community. In addition to weekend DIY workshops, BBB works with schools, corporations, and NGOs to design and implement projects that help students, employees, and more learn about and work with bicycles.

Job Description

BBB’s Business Manager will be responsible to developing projects with current and potential clients. The Business Manager will lead the Beijing team in scheduling and implementing workshops and projects. The Business Manager will work directly with David Wang to build BBB into the leading bamboo bicycle company in China. This is an opportunity to join the leadership of an early-stage cycling start-up.

Job Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Developing new projects and ideas with business partners with CEO and COO.
  • Planning and Scheduling: Overseeing project and workshop schedule of workshop leaders and assistants.
  • Weekly Company Meetings: Organize and run weekly meetings with BBB team.
  • Cost Management: Recording and monitoring of BBB's costs and accounting.
  • Media Communications: Interface with interested media and organizations.
  • Helping to Build Bamboo Bikes!
Qualifications

BBB's workshop leaders are responsible for leading groups of students in making bamboo bicycles. After a 2-month probationary training period, you will organize, lead, and manage the running of regular bamboo bicycle workshops and other BBB-related workshops. The workshop leaders will work directly with the Business Manager to provide the best experiences for everyone in the BBB community. A workshop leader also manages Workshop Assistants and Volunteers to help him/her create awesome building experiences!

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare Workshops: Design bike frames, communicate with students, arrange workshop space, secure materials and tools, and manage Workshop Assistants and Volunteers.
  • Lead Workshops: Typical workshops are 2 full weekend days and require a high amount of leadership, organization of many people, and ability to problem solve on the fly. We find teachers are the best at this!
  • Bike Assembly and Delivery: After the workshops, the Workshop Leader is responsible for assembling the bicycles with components for the students and delivering them in a timely manner.

  • Ability to endure and enjoy lots of standing and physical work
  • Attuned to group safety
